Fun in Beaufort!

It was no surprise to us when Beaufort won the Budget Travel "Coolest Small Town" contest for 2012!  It was a tie but in our eyes Beaufort is the winner!  Beaufort is one of my very favorite places to spend time all year long!  Yesterday we enjoyed the rainy day starting with lunch at Plaza Mexico, now on Front Street! It was quite authentic!  We recommend the Hawaiian fajitas and the very large margarita!
Lunch turned into a fun afternoon visit at our friends charming Beaufort home to wine at Queen Anne's Revenge and Dinner at Aqua!  We had such a great time!  Sometimes the most fun happens when there is no plan!
We ended up staying in town until midnight after popping in The Backstreet Pub, voted by Garden and Gun as one of the top 50 Southern Bars!  Beaufort never disappoints!  Always a guaranteed good time!

Enjoy your Day, Carolina Style!

  1. Beaufort is not the greatest place to live since tourist
    have "invaded" and driven-up
    the cost of living!
With the growth our small pleasant
little village has become the most expensive place to reside in the last few years.
I have lived here most of my life
    (42 yrs) and Beaufort was
a wonderful place to settle and
    live a nice retired life.
    Not anymore!
My water & sewer bill went from $29.00 in the early 2000's to
a huge $118.00 over the past
    three years.
We have had our property taxes
double in just the last two years.
When we locals try to shop downtown there's no parking
anywhere, so, we have to go over
to Morehead or beyond to find
space for us locals to shop.
So, sorry, but Beaufort is NOT
a cool small town, it is a
    very crowded and VERY expensive
    place to live and visit!
If I could I would be selling my
home and moving out of this area.
It is not the nice place I used
    to know and enjoy..........

    1. Sorry you feel that way..we own a home at AB and understand higher cost of living..it is actually happening everywhere. Even places that do not count on tourism.
As a Cancer survivor this blog is a happy positive place to express things I love especially about NC....
