Fresh Fairwell!

What a great weekend to be in North Carolina and especially on the Carolina Coast!  We started the weekend with a fun dinner party with friends!  Enjoying a beautiful sunset from their Intercoastal waterway porch, fresh tuna and temps in the 70's made for the perfect end to 2011!  Being outside and in flip flops made for a fun December day at the beach in the fresh salt air!
Time to sail off into the New Year!

Going Bowling!

In honor and preparation for the Belk Bowl in the Queen City tonight, I thought I would post some of my favorite NCSU fan faves during the Holiday!  We love adding to our Wolfpack tree with new Mears Etc Etc Wolfpack paraphernalia!  It is a fun addition to the bar!  The first photo of the NC State football player is an ornament given to my Dad as a Graduate when Carter Finley was built in 1966!
GO PACK!
Remembering a few fun tailgate moments!
Had to share this pic posted on fb by Mimi Freid Cook!
Although the Tarheels did not end the season with a Bowl win, they are starting 2012 with a new coach with lots of enthusiasm!  Next year should be lots of fun for all!  For now, fans look forward to the beginning of ACC basketball!

Christmas Traditions!

Celebrating with family and friends is always the highlight of Christmas!  Lighting the luminaries for over thirty five years followed by a Christmas Eve party is a favorite tradition!  Being home for the Holiday to carry on traditions started before my time is a task I am always up for!
My family always enjoys Christmas breakfast with homemade cheese biscuits and the once a year southern style side item from Elias Butcher Shoppe , streak o' lean as the other headliner.  A cup of Carolina Coffee Company's Christmas blend was the perfect start before seeing what Santa left behind for the big kids!

Lots of memories made with our sweet niece!  Christmas through the eyes of a child is so magical! Everyone also loved the prime rib Christmas dinner ending with Angus Barn Chocolate Chess Pie!  You will love baking this pie for special occasions!  Southern Living agrees the Angus Barn and their pie is one of the South's best!  I especially love the Angus Barn in December, overflowing with Christmas cheer!
Our favorite Christmas tradition is remembering The Methodist Home for Children.
Generosity is the most important tradition passed from generation to generation!

CHRISTmas!

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I enjoyed taking photos this season of Nativity scenes!  Some new and several passed down to friends and family for generations!

Holiday at Home!

"From home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another, the warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other."
 ~Emily Matthews

I love that my parents still decorate their tree with ornaments my brother and I made as kids!  It is funny to laugh at the memories sparked by each ornament!  I could laugh with my brother all day long!
"You sometimes get discouraged because I am so small, and get my little fingerprints on furniture and wall.  So here's a Christmas present, so that you will remember how my little fingers looked in 1982, in December"
Time Flies..soak in each moment!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
