Hallmark has been great at verbalizing V-Day since 1913. However, The first written Valentine dates back to 1415 and is on display at the British Museum. Valentine's Day greeting cards produced in the U.S. were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. She is known as the Mother of the Valentine. A card company by the name Norcross became the first commercial Company to manufacture greeting cards. The Greeting Card Association reports one billion Valentine cards are sent each year!
My how things have changed....Now you can send an E-Card! I hope many receive Stationary this V-Day but perhaps the hand written note is a blog for another day!!
