"John Locke, in his 1689 "A Letter Concerning Toleration," wrote that "Civil interest I call life, liberty, health, and indolency of body; and the possession of outward things..." Locke wrote in his 1693 Essay Concerning Human Understanding that "the highest perfection of intellectual nature lies in a careful and constant pursuit of true and solid happiness." Locke never associated natural right with happiness."
Historic Halifax is a great place to visit! Listed by Road Trips for Families as one of the Best 4th of July Hometown Celebrations and Trips in the USA! I highly recommend the play First for Freedom since 1976 by Maxville Burt Williams. As a child, I had the great pleasure participating in the production as Josie Hamilton. It was a wonderful experience! Although the role as Josie and the lead role as the Little Red Hen in kindergarten, did not create a child star, I developed a great appreciation for our history!
Happy July 4th!
Enjoy your Freedom, Carolina Style!
