Growing up in a small town where everybody knows your name is very special!  I love my hometown and all the exciting new businesses joining our old favorites!  Our town is full of talent, southern hospitality and lots of fun!
It is especially fun to see new friends Fall in love with the town that for so many reasons always brings me home!  We are excited to invite others to Fall for Enfield this Friday and Saturday!
If you visit once we promise you will return!
The Bellamy Manor is the place to stay when you visit our sweet town!  Jennie's Beans and Buns is a treasure! Homemade soups and sandwiches, desserts and more! So Yummy!
A&B Milling Company is an old favorite with their Famous Aunt Ruby's Peanuts!
Yoga Magnolia is a new addition to downtown and is loved by all who attend!  The owner is also a new friend who has fallen for Enfield!
I have enjoyed purchasing upholstery fabric from Delresa Silver Designs above! She is great to work with and the fabrics are beautiful!

Thankful in Tarboro!

We ended the Holiday weekend at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tarboro listening to a wonderful sermon by our cousin Howard Dudley and his wife Meg, both are now in Seminary!   It was an incredible message!   We are all looking forward to receiving a copy of the sermon and are so proud!  The music was also incredible! We are excited to return next week for their Christmas Special with Piano and instruments!
We gathered together after Church for lunch at Cotton's!  A spread of  home cooking that looked like Thanksgiving all over again!  I understand Cotton's is also the place to be for seafood on Friday night!  Cotton's has been satisfying southern taste buds for decades!

Giving Thanks!

This Thanksgiving, what stands out for the third year is being Cancer free and most importantly, I am thankful for the good health of my parents, family and friends! I pray everyday not only for patients but for their caregivers who feel so helpless as they try to comfort suffering loved ones. I also pray for those without plenty of food to eat. I hope everyone will remember to invite those who do not have anywhere to go this Thanksgiving into your family! Please support the Boys and Girls Clubs, Rescue Mission and Meals on Wheels in your area!
Be Kind, Thank God,
Work Hard and Help Others!
Good things will happen!
If you are alone this Holiday, suffering with a loss or struggling through this tough time our country is going through, please reach out to someone!  So much can happen in a year especially with an unselfish heart of gratitude!
1 Thes. 5:18   Keep a grateful heart in every circumstance and it will open the way for clearer direction in all things.

Happy THANKSgiving!!

Thanksgiving in the United States dates back to the early 1600's.  I cannot imagine the joy during The First Thanksgiving at Plymouth in 1621.  From the harvest to the methods of cooking what an event this must have been!  I would love the hear the prayer being said at this table!
The First Thanksgiving at Plymouth By Jennie A. Brownscombe (1914)
Next to all the quality time with family and friends having plenty of kitchen time with my Mom is so fun ! We always prepare family recipes like my Mom's Cranberry Crunch!
We also really enjoy trying new versions of old favorites while the Macy's Day parade is in full force!  Our new North Carolina sweet potato faves are sweet potato balls filled with marshmallows and roasted sweet potatoes, parsnips, carrots and golden raisins mixed with clover honey and brown sugar!  Everyone is happy with beef tenderloin since we are the last stop of the day! We are starting with cranberry salsa and fig preservers over Stilton blue cheese served with pears and ending with apple and pecan pie!  Add the pumpkin pie martini and the Thanksgiving Toast is in order!

“May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!”

Happy Veterans Day!

I am grateful everyday for the sacrifices men and women make in order for every American to continue to enjoy Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!  We can all help show our Appreciation to our Military and their families!

Lexington's Sweet Tooth!

What fun it is to step back in time at The Candy Factory in Lexington!  We spent so much time reminiscing over our childhood favorites as we walked through the real life "Candyland"!
Black Jack and Clove were before my time!  The Candy Factory is also heaven for Chocolate lovers, even those who enjoy sugar free by choice or need!  I love the antique showcases, signs and toys as well!
There is lots of memorabilia from the old North Carolina Candy Company as well as the beginning days of the Piedmont Candy Company! The Candy Factory sells the old fashioned Blue Bird peppermints still made in Lexington today at the Piedmont Candy Company !
I Love Turkey Toes!
The Candy Factory sells "Redneck Wine and Cheese", RC Cola and a MoonPie.  My personal version of Redneck Wine and Cheese would be Aunt Ruby's Peanuts and a Pepsi, Sundrop or Cheerwine!!!  You can also find Aunt Ruby's Peanuts at The Candy Factory!
